~A Snapshot of Our Week~

Lauren had her soccer photos taken this last weekend.  She loves soccer and is quite good at it.
Justin asked me to make some homemade cinnamon rolls, so I did.
My coffee wall art came for my kitchen this last week.  I love it!

Justin wanted his photo taken with his Daddy and I this weekend.  I normally don't take photos of myself, but I did it for my little fella.

When I was at Wal-mart this morning, I stocked up on my favorite scented candle and wax melt.  It is by Better Homes and Gardens, and it is called Soft Cashmere Amber.  It smells so nice.

About 14 years ago, when I was pregnant with Lauren, my Mom and Aunt and Cousin and Tristyn all went to a little town and had lunch and went shopping.  Mom purchased for me this little hand made candle chandelier.  It was made to hold taper candles, but they were never quite wide enough to stay put.  I had purchased some flame-less candles from QVC that had come in a set, and I just had them in my closet.  This afternoon I just thought, I wonder if they might fit on the chandelier, and they worked perfectly!!!  I think they just add a warmth and coziness to my down stairs family room.

They are predicting some bad weather for our area of Kansas late this afternoon and evening, so we are all sticking close to home in case we need to head down to our basement.  Saying a prayer that the storms don't amount to as much as they are saying they could.  This was a little snapshot of our week!

~A Snap Shot of Our Week~

Both Justin and Megan had their spring concert for school this week!  It was so cute and all of the children did such a nice job!

I finally got some photos of Megan's volleyball team.  They had their last two games this weekend.  They were undefeated!  The two coaches have been coaching the same girls for years and are very good!
This week Steven got sick, and was in bed for two days straight.  He pretty much never gets sick, but when he does it seems to hit him pretty hard.  He is still not feeling very well even today.  We are hoping this passes soon.  He went to a walk in care clinic today, but they said it was a virus, so no medicine was prescribed.  Lauren and Justin both had soccer games this weekend.  Our Saturdays are pretty busy with all three of the younger children in sports.  Today is a lazy Sunday in our little home.  Megan is at a friends house for a play date, and everyone else is just relaxing.  It is a rainy day outside, and all of the little birds are singing.  It is nice to get some much needed rain.  That is a little snapshot of our week.

~Some of My Favorite Things~

This little penguin used to be my son Tristyn's baby penguin.  When Tristyn was a little boy, he loved penguins.  He had two special penguins, baby penguin and Moma penguin.  Tristyn's father and I were divorced, and his father moved very far away.  This made it where Tristyn had to travel by plane to see his father.  When he was young, this was very hard for him.  (and me as well)  What we would do is he would take Moma penguin with him and I would keep baby penguin.  Then when we would talk on the phone and such, we would say how much they missed each other.  He once wrote a paper for school telling about it.  It was just a little thing we did that meant a lot to both of us.  Years later when Tristyn was moving out of our home and into his own apartment I shed quite a few tears.  He was gathering all his items to take to his new place late into the night.  The next morning, I opened the door to his room and found it pretty bare, but there on his entertainment system sat baby penguin.  I cried my eyes out.  When Lauren awoke that morning, she said Tristyn wanted to make sure you got baby penguin.  He kept Mama penguin.  It is just something that touches my heart so deeply.  Children are the greatest blessing that anyone could have.  Being my children's mother means the world to me, and I love taking care of them.  They grow up and fly, which is a good thing, but hard to let them go at the same time.   I just thought I would share one of my favorite things.

~A Snapshot of Our Week~

Justin and Lauren hung out in our little basement family room to watch a show on Amazon.  This way Daddy was free to watch his sports on the big TV!  Justin asked me to take his photo, so I happily did.
I lit my favorite scented candle, put the sound of falling rain on my computer and just enjoyed some rest and relaxation.
I went to lunch with a friend this week, and she was telling me about Amazon Prime, so we decided to try it out.  They do a one month free trial.  So far I ordered two things from my Amazon wish list and the shipping was free.  We do order from time to time on Amazon, so this may be worth it.  They also have free books for the Kindle which Lauren likes and movies and shows you can watch.  The above photo is the gental rain video I found on Amazon.  It is very soothing and the leaves with rain drops are pretty.

Justin dusted his room.  He is really good about helping me do chores around the house.
Here is Justin hugging his big sister Lauren.  So sweet!
I love the look of our recycling truck.  It is my favorite shade of turquoise.
Justin and Megan both hosted play dates this weekend.  Lauren went to see a movie with a friend and went bowling too!
Lauren had an early morning soccer game and boy was it chilly.
Steven is coaching Justin's soccer team again.  Justin's game was in the afternoon and it was very windy, but much warmer outside.  Megan had two volleyball games this weekend as well.  I will try to take some photos of her game next weekend.
Steven and I had our weekly Qdoba lunch.  It is so yummy!

Steven and I were driving home on Saturday morning, and ran across a yard sale.  I stopped to look, and found a Christmas Goose Berry book!  So I had to go home and read it and of course put on some Christmas music on the TV via Youtube.  Yes I know it is April!

I did my weekly menu planning, shopping and cooking.  This was one of the meal I made.  Megan loves home made lasagna and home made bread.

We had a good, yet busy week in our little home.  Hope yours was good as well!

~A Snapshot of Our Week~

Sweet Lauren was sick all week, so on Saturday morning I took her to the doctor's office.  They started her on some medicine.  She is still coughing and running fever, so I pray it works soon.  Megan has been pretty sore after doing three track practices this week, but she likes track, so she doesn't mind.  She is a lot like her Daddy and is pretty good at sports.  She also had two volleyball games yesterday.  Which I missed because I had to take Lauren to the doctors.  Steven went with her, and her team won both games.  Steven seemed to enjoy April fools day this year.  He got me twice and Lauren once with tricks.  Then he would say "April Fools"  He is something else!

We joined a video store called Family Video.  We had gone in there to buy this certain kind of candy for the children's Easter baskets.  It is the only place in town that sales Toxic Waste candy.  I just asked about how much movies were, and they were very reasonably priced.  The first month after joining all rentals are half priced and they have video games for Justin, as well as free movie rentals on certain children's movies.  I have to say they have a great selection of movies and I think it is kine of fun to go and look for a good movie to rent.

One of the movies I rented was the new Peanuts Movie.  I am a huge Peanuts fan, so I really liked it.  I also rented a movie called The Letters about mother Teresa and I have to say it was such a wonderful movie.  Even if you are not Catholic, it is worth watching.  She was such an amazing and giving person.

Some of our friends just recently moved out of state, and they asked if we would like their little pre-lit Christmas tree.  I've always thought it would be nice to have a tree in our down stairs family room, so we accepted.  I am purchasing decorations for it from Amazon, and now have everything but the silver star and silver wrap around tinsel.  I stick to a budget so I  get a little at a time.  I found the most beautiful tree skirt that was hand made for it.  The colors are aqua and silver.  So I'm leaving the tree up until I have all the decorations purchased for it.  Christmas is my favorite time of year, so I don't mind looking at my Christmas tree off season for a little while.

I love Megan's little bedroom.  The vanity she has used to be mine as a child and her great grandfather re-varnished it a long time ago, before his passing.  That makes it extra special.  Her little hamster Oreo is so sweet and cute.  She is black with a white stripe on her belly.
This is Lauren's little bedroom.  She likes to get under her covers and read.

I think this is so cute, she decorated the inside of her armoire.  She keeps her little lotions and body sprays, lip balms and nail polishes in it.  So sweet.

My week I spent doing my daily house work.  Such as driving the children places, making beds, deep cleaning, menu planning and cooking and of course laundry.  I do laundry pretty much every day.  I like the way our home feels when it is clean and tidy.  Although, we mess it up every day, it is nice to start with a freshly cleaned home.   I really enjoy cleaning and tiding our little home.
Here are Steven and Justin this morning enjoying one of Justin's free movies.
Through the week we just do quick breakfast meals, but each Sunday morning I make us bacon and eggs.  Steven always has hot coco with marshmallows and I enjoy my cup of coffee with half and half.  It is a nice tradition our Sunday morning breakfasts.  The children eat their's later as they tend to sleep in a bit.

That is a little snapshot of our week!
