~A Thought On My Heart

Today I have been reflecting on when I was a little girl and would go to my grandparents house, and how things have changed.  Grandma and Grandpa  lived in a time before we had so much distraction, before people were glued to their phones.  I am not against technology, but I do miss the days when family's sat together and actually would be present with one another.  It breaks my heart to be in a room with loved ones and see people just scrolling on their phones instead of truly being in the moment with each other. I believe this is one of the reasons that people seem to be so on edge these days and so lonely.  It is almost as if we are robbing ourselves of the moments the good Lord meant for us to have in our lives and trading them for a fake reality in the on line world.

Now that I am a grandma, I truly desire to live a life that will be an example of simple living and for me, that means trying to live a life that somewhat resembles the times before we has so very much technology at our fingertips.

I do believe that we can use platforms such as YouTube and blogs and such to  enrich our lives if we are very intentional about what we are allowing ourselves to watch and read.  Just as we would not want to live on a diet that consisted of only junk food, we want to make sure the things we are feeding our minds are things that are good for us.  I like to think before I watch a show, if Jesus was sitting by me in bodily form, would I still turn this on.  It is a good way to gage if something is wholesome or not.

So for me anyways, I am going to strive to live in a way that speaks to my grandchildren of a simple life that strives to be truly Christ centered.

This was just some thoughts on my mind today, and I thought I would share them on my blog.  God bless you and keep you in His loving care.  Hugs to you.  ~Juli
