~Childhood Memories~

I was looking at my Pinterest photos, and just getting lost in my wonderful childhood memories this evening.  I thought it would be fun to every now and then do a post about things of my childhood memories.  This first photo was the Neighborhood of Make Believe on Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood.  Oh how I loved that show.  I have a few episodes on my Amazon, that I watch from time to time.  It brings me back to childhood.
Another fun childhood memory  was my sticker book.  My friends and I would trade stickers.  Oh how I treasured my sticker book.  I did not have a ton of toys and things, but the items I had meant the world to me.
I loved when my teacher's would put a scratch and sniff sticker on one of my papers.  That is how I got a lot of my neat stickers for my sticker book!
We used to purchase stickers like these at a shop in downtown Lawrence, Ks called  The Palace.
Here are some scented Strawberry Shortcake stickers.

This is the Lemon Twist.  My sister Tricia and I both had one.  You put it around your ankle and jump as the lemon goes in a circle.  It was so much fun.
Every now and then our Mom would give us a dime to purchase a bouncy ball!  I loved these so much.
When I was a very little girl, my Dad would purchase chocolate stars at the mall in Memphis, Tennessee  I was only five, but I still remember those wonderful chocolate stars.

Oh how I love scented erasers.  I'm guessing this one would have been bubble gum.  I had one of these when I was a girl.

Here is the type of store you could have found the My Melody eraser in.  I had a friend who had quite a lot of these wonderful little things.  I always enjoyed going to her house and seeing them all.
I thought I would share one last item from the Sanrio shop.  I had one of these in red and with Hello Kitty on it.  I loved it.
Oh how I love the Strawberry shortcake dolls.  I only had one, it was Apple Dumpling and I had traded for Lime Shaffons little parrot.  Trading was a fun way to get new toys.  My sister and I would carry our little toys in our purse and we would have trading party's with our friends.  It was such fun.
I still remember how this doll smelled.  So many of my friends had her.
Here is the Apple Dumpling doll that I had.
This is the Strawberry Shortcake Blow Kiss baby doll that my cousin Kim had.  Oh how I loved when I would go to her house and Kim would let me play with her.  When you squeezed her tummy she would blow strawberry kisses.  When my girls were little I actually purchased each of them one of these dolls from Ebay.  Now they are a part of my children's childhood memories as well as mine!
Bubble gum was a big deal to me as a child.  Funny, I don't really chew it as an adult.  I love the many flavors of Bubblicious.  My mom would not allow me to have this often because she said it was like giving your teeth a sugar bath.
This was a gum that had a sugar syrup in the middle.  Oh how I loved this!
My Aunt TD always had Dentyne in her purse.  I loved when she would give us some.  It was cinnamon flavored.  She also would make cinnamon toothpicks and give them to us when we would go over to her home.
My sister and I would get up early every Saturday morning so we could watch the Smurfs.  I had a next door neighbor who had her room full of smurf items.  I loved going to visit her room!  I thought she was so very lucky.
Little radios were an awesome way that we would listen to music back then.  Now days the children listen on their phones.
Oh I loved Bewitched.  I have the Bewitched theme song on my phone to notify me when I get a text!  I love incorporating my childhood memories into my life now, it just makes my heart happy.
I loved these old phones.  Love the color of the one in this photo.  It would fit right into my home!!!
My sister's and I loved these types of little rings.  We kept them in our little white and pink ballerina jewelry boxes.
My Grandma Smith had a drawer full of these pretty handkerchiefs that I used to love to look at when we would visit her home.  Years ago I found two at a thrift shop and I keep them in my purse.  I carried one in my hand when my son Tristyn got married.  I love using things from the past, it helps me to connect to the dear people of my childhood that I no longer get to see, but still remain in my heart.
My sister Tricia and I used to drink our OJ out of cups just like these.  We lived in Orlando, Florida for two years, and my mom I'm guessing got them for us from Disney World.
Oh how I loved Benji!!!
We used to do this.  We would take Silly Putty and make pictures from the Sunday comics on it by pressing it on the paper, and when you lifted it up, the picture was on the silly putty!
I loved the movie Pete's Dragon.  They have a new version out, but it is not near as good as the first version.  My favorite song Candle on the water is from Pete's Dragon.
My mom always had us drink out of these glasses.  I remember sipping out of these to this day.
I loved Drive in movies!  They still have them but they are not very common.
I loved figurines.  I had a couple that were very special to me as a child.
I spent hours on my pogo stick.  I could do it with out holding on to the handles even.
I loved friendship pins.
I wish Ding dongs were still wrapped in foil.  Once in a while my mom would pack this in our lunch boxes.  It was always such a treat!
We would watch the Jetsons every morning before we left for school.  I always wished I could stay home and finish The Jetsons.

Well, I think I better end this post before I make it too long.  I will share more childhood memories every now and then.  Thank you for walking down memory lane with me.  Have a wonderful weekend.  Hugs.  Juli

  4. What a fun post! When my mom would stock up on bread at the bakery, she would often buy a box of ding dongs. It's been a long time since I've had one.

I also love Strawberry Shortcake. I bought a couple of the dolls for my girls, and they take me way back to my childhood. :)

  5. You can choose to focus your attention on lack, limitation and all that is wrong with the economy, or you can choose
to focus your attention on your own abundance and decide that in your world there is no
    economic crisis.
