~A Thought On My Heart

Today I would like to share with you a thought in my heart.  I have been thinking about thankfulness.  It says in the Bible that we are to Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  1 Thessalonians 5; 16-18

As our days pass and move forward, sometimes life can have many hardships and many blessings all blended together.  It is easy to give thanks for our many blessings, but when the hardships are raging around us, sometimes we may find it hard to be thankful.  I believe that our hardships can help shape our character and give us a more Christ like spirit.

Years ago when I was just starting out in life, there was a time when I only had just the smallest amount of money to live on.  For quiet a few months I had to eat nothing but beans and drop biscuits.  I got so very tired of eating the same meal day after day, but even then, I knew I was blessed because we still had food.  I knew that the two things together formed a complete protein and I had multivitamins to take each day.  Because I had read the book The Long Winter, I knew that despite my hardship, I was still truly blessed.  My hardship lasted for only a few months, but I truly look at it as a gift to my life, because it helped me to have a thankful heart for all the many simple blessings that I have in my life today.

I truly believe that when we are in the middle of one of life's inevitable storms if we draw close to Jesus, he can be with us and give us the strength to carry on.  Those of us who have Jesus in our life, should keep in the front of our minds that we have been given the gift of Heaven through our faith in Jesus and we should count this as our most precious possession.  When we keep this truth in mind, it helps us to see that despite our hardships we are truly blessed.

I want to thank you for stopping by my little space.  I pray for all those who visit my blog.  I hope you have a cozy week.  God bless you and keep you in His care.  Hugs to you.  ~Juli

  3. Hi Juli, I have been reading your posts and enjoy them. I think the post you made on this day, is a good reminder for all of us to be thankful. We can always look around and find people who are not as fortunate as we are. Your are spot on about Jesus. He will never leave or forsake us. Kathi from Florida.
